Cup Holder

Cups or small beverage containers may be placed in the cup holders.

WARNING

  • Avoid abrupt starting and braking when the cup holder is in use to prevent spilling your drink. If hot liquid spills, you could be burned. Such a burn to the driver could cause loss of vehicle control resulting in an accident.
  • Do not place uncovered or unsecured cups, bottles, cans, etc., in the cup holder containing hot liquid while the vehicle is in motion. Injuries may result in the event of a sudden stop or collision.
  • Only use soft cups in the cup holders. Hard objects can injure you in an accident.

WARNING

Keep cans or bottles out of direct sunlight and do not leave them in a hot vehicle. Pressure can build and the container may rupture or explode.

NOTICE

  • Keep your drinks sealed while driving to prevent spills. If liquid spills, it may get into the vehicle's electrical/electronic system and damage electrical/electronic parts.
  • When cleaning spilled liquids, do not dry the cup holder at high temperature. This may damage the cup holder.

■ Center

In the Hyundai Accent, the power outlet is provided to supply electrical power for mobile phones, navigation accessories, and other devices designed for in-vehicle use. For safe operation and to protect the Hyundai Accent electrical system, connected devices should draw less than 180 W (Watts) while the engine is running, and the plug should fit firmly without wobbling.

WARNING

To help avoid electrical shock, never insert your fingers or any foreign objects (pins, coins, etc.) into a power outlet, and do not touch the power outlet with wet hands or damp gloves.

NOTICE

To help prevent damage to the Power Outlets:

  • Use the power outlet only with the engine running, and remove the accessory plug after use. Leaving an accessory connected for long periods with the engine off can discharge the battery.
  • Only use 12V accessories rated below 180 W (Watts) in electrical capacity.
  • When using the power outlet, set the air-conditioner or heater to the lowest practical operating level to reduce overall electrical load.
  • Close the outlet cover when not in use to keep dust and spilled liquids away from the socket.
  • Some electronic devices may cause interference when plugged into a vehicle’s power outlet. Such devices can create audio static and may affect other electronic systems or devices used in your Hyundai Accent.
  • Push the plug in as far as it will go. If good contact is not made, the plug may overheat and the fuse may open.
  • Plug in battery-equipped electrical/electronic devices only if they include reverse current protection. Otherwise, current from the device battery may flow into the vehicle’s electrical/electronic system and cause a system malfunction.

Cigarette lighter

Hyundai Accent cigarette lighter socket and heating element

To use the cigarette lighter, the ignition switch must be in the ACC or ON position. Insert the lighter fully into the socket until it stops; once the element reaches operating temperature, the Hyundai Accent lighter will automatically pop out to the “ready” position.

Use only replacement parts supplied by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer to maintain proper fit and electrical safety.

WARNING

  • Do not hold the lighter in after it has heated. Holding it in can cause overheating and damage.
  • If the lighter does not pop out within 30 seconds, remove it to prevent overheating.
  • Do not insert foreign objects into the cigarette lighter socket. This may damage the socket and may cause an electrical fault.

NOTICE

Only a genuine HYUNDAI lighter should be used in the cigarette lighter socket. Plug-in accessories (shavers, hand-held vacuums, coffee pots, etc.) may damage the socket or cause electrical failure.

Clock

WARNING

Do not adjust the clock while driving. Diverting attention from the road can reduce steering control and may cause an accident that results in severe personal injury or death.

On Hyundai Accent models equipped with an audio system, select the [SETUP] button on the audio unit ➟ then select [Date/Time] to adjust the clock and display preferences.

  • Set time: Set the time displayed on the audio screen.

Do not hang objects such as rigid hangers or hard items other than clothes. Also, do not place heavy, sharp, or breakable objects in clothing pockets. In an accident, or when the curtain air bag inflates, these items may cause vehicle damage or personal injury.

Floor Mat Anchor(s)

ALWAYS use the Floor Mat Anchors to secure the front floor mats in your Hyundai Accent. The anchors in the front floor carpet help keep mats from sliding forward and interfering with pedal operation.

WARNING

Do not overlay additional mats or liners over the floor mats. If using All Weather mats, remove the carpeted floor mats before installing them. Only use floor mats designed to connect to the anchors.

WARNING

The following must be observed when installing ANY floor mat to the vehicle.

  • Ensure the floor mats are securely attached to the vehicle's floor mat anchor(s) before driving the vehicle.
  • Do not use ANY floor mat that cannot be firmly attached to the vehicle's floor mat anchors.
  • Do not stack floor mats on top of one another (for example, an all-weather rubber mat on top of a carpeted floor mat). Only a single floor mat should be installed in each position.

IMPORTANT - Your vehicle was manufactured with driver’s side floor mat anchors designed to securely hold the floor mat in place. To avoid any interference with pedal operation, have the HYUNDAI floor mat designed for use in your vehicle installed.

Luggage Net Holder

Make sure the luggage net is securely attached to the holders in the luggage compartment.

WARNING

Avoid eye injury. DO NOT overstretch the luggage net. ALWAYS keep your face and body out of the luggage net's recoil path. DO NOT use the luggage net when the strap has visible signs of wear or damage.
