Theft-alarm system

This system helps protect your Hyundai Accent and valuables inside the vehicle. The horn will sound and the hazard warning lights will blink continuously if any of the following occur while the system is armed:

- A door is opened without using the remote key or smart key.
- The trunk is opened without using the remote key or smart key.
- The engine hood is opened.

The alarm continues for about 30 seconds, then the system resets. To turn off the alarm, unlock the doors with the remote key or smart key. If your Hyundai Accent is equipped with a Smart Key, keep the key with you to avoid accidentally triggering the alarm during access.

The Theft Alarm System automatically sets about 30 seconds after you lock the doors and the trunk. For the system to activate, you must lock the doors and the trunk from outside the vehicle with the remote key or smart key, or by pressing the button on the outside door handle with the smart key in your possession (if equipped).

The hazard warning lights will blink and the chime will sound once to indicate the system is armed. Once the security system is set, opening any door, the trunk, or the hood without using the remote key or smart key will cause the alarm to activate.

The Theft Alarm System will not set if the hood, the trunk, or any door is not fully closed. If the system will not set, recheck that the hood, the trunk, and all doors are securely latched on your Hyundai Accent.

Do not attempt to alter this system or add other devices to it, as incorrect modifications can lead to false alarms or improper operation.

Information

  • Do not lock the doors until all passengers have left the vehicle. If a remaining passenger leaves the vehicle when the system is armed, the alarm will be activated.
  • If the vehicle is not disarmed with the remote key or smart key, open the doors using the mechanical key and place the ignition switch in the ON position (for remote key) or start the engine (for smart key) by directly pressing the ignition switch with the smart key.
  • If the system is disarmed by unlocking the vehicle, but neither a door nor the trunk is opened within 30 seconds, the doors may relock and the system may rearm automatically.

Rear View Monitor will activate when the engine is running and the shift lever is in the R (Reverse) position.

This is a supplemental system that helps provide a view of the area behind the vehicle through the audio display while the vehicle is in the R (Reverse) position.

WARNING

Rear View Monitor is not a safety device. It only serves to assist the driver in identifying objects directly behind the middle of the vehicle. The camera does NOT cover the complete area behind the vehicle.

WARNING

  • Never rely solely on the Rear View Monitor when backing up.
  • ALWAYS look around your vehicle to make sure there are no objects or obstacles before moving the vehicle in any direction to prevent a collision.
  • Always pay close attention when the vehicle is driven close to objects, particularly pedestrians, and especially children.

NOTICE

Always keep the camera lens clean. The camera may not work normally if the lens is covered with dirt, water or snow.
