Adjusting instrument cluster illumination

When the vehicle's position lights or headlights are on, press the illumination control button to adjust the brightness of the instrument panel illumination. Set the level so the Hyundai Accent gauges are easy to read without glare.
When pressing the illumination control button, the interior switch illumination intensity is also adjusted.
WARNING
Never adjust the instrument cluster while driving. This could result in loss of control and lead to an accident that may cause death, serious injury, or vehicle damage.

The speedometer indicates the speed of the vehicle and is calibrated in miles per hour (MPH) and/or kilometers per hour (km/h). Use this gauge to monitor speed smoothly, especially in changing speed zones.

The tachometer indicates the approximate number of engine revolutions per minute (rpm).
Use the tachometer to select the correct shift points and to prevent lugging and/or over-revving the engine. Maintaining appropriate rpm helps your Hyundai Accent deliver responsive acceleration and efficient operation.
NOTICE
Do not operate the engine within the tachometer's RED ZONE. This may cause severe engine damage.

This gauge indicates the temperature of the engine coolant when the ignition switch is in the ON position.
NOTICE
If the gauge pointer moves beyond the normal range area toward the "H" position, it indicates overheating that may damage the engine.
Do not continue driving with an overheated engine. If your vehicle overheats, refer to "If the Engine Overheats" in chapter 6.
WARNING
Never remove the radiator cap or reservoir cap when the engine is hot. The engine coolant is under pressure and could severely burn.Wait until the engine is cool before adding coolant to the reservoir.
Extra tip for Hyundai Accent drivers: become familiar with the warning and indicator lights (and the LCD trip computer) so you can quickly recognize messages related to fuel level, engine temperature, or maintenance reminders.

This gauge indicates the approximate amount of fuel remaining in the fuel tank of your Hyundai Accent, allowing the driver to monitor fuel usage during everyday driving.
Information
WARNING
Running out of fuel can expose vehicle occupants to danger, especially if the vehicle stops unexpectedly in traffic or unsafe locations.
You must stop and obtain additional fuel as soon as possible after the warning light comes on or when the gauge indicator approaches the "E (Empty)" level.
NOTICE
Avoid driving with an extremely low fuel level. Running out of fuel could cause engine misfire and may damage the catalytic converter in your Hyundai Accent.

This gauge indicates the current outside air temperature in increments of 1°F (1°C), helping the driver remain aware of ambient conditions.
- Temperature range : -40°F ~ 140°F (-40°C ~ 60°C)
The outside temperature shown on the display may not change immediately like a conventional thermometer. This delay is intentional and helps reduce unnecessary driver distraction while operating the Hyundai Accent.
You can change the temperature unit from °F to °C or from °C to °F using the User Settings mode in the instrument cluster:
- Go to User Settings Mode ➝ Other ➝ Temperature Unit.
- Press and hold the TRIP button on the steering wheel for 5 seconds.
For vehicles equipped with Automatic Climate Control, you can also change the unit by performing the following:
- Press and hold the AUTO and OFF buttons on the climate control unit simultaneously for 3 seconds.
Both the temperature unit shown on the cluster LCD display and the climate control screen will change accordingly.

The odometer indicates the total distance that the vehicle has been driven. This information should be used to determine when scheduled maintenance and service intervals are required for proper Hyundai Accent operation.

This indicator displays recommended gear changes while driving to help improve fuel efficiency and overall driving smoothness.
For example
: Indicates that shifting up to the 3rd gear is recommended (the shift lever is currently in 1st or 2nd gear).
: Indicates that shifting down to the 3rd gear is recommended (the shift lever is currently in 4th, 5th, or 6th gear).
When the system is not operating properly, the indicator will not be displayed.

This indicator displays the currently selected shift lever position for vehicles equipped with the Intelligent Variable Transmission.
Gear position pop-up

The gear position pop-up shows the currently selected gear in the instrument cluster for approximately 2 seconds whenever the shift lever is moved between positions such as P, R, N, or D.
This warning message appears if you attempt to start the engine while the shift lever is not in P (Park) or N (Neutral).
Information
The engine can be started with the shift lever in N (Neutral). However, for maximum safety and to reduce unintended vehicle movement, start the Hyundai Accent with the shift lever in P (Park).
This message is displayed if you try to turn the engine off while the shift lever is not in the P (Park) position.
In this condition, the Engine Start/Stop button changes to the ACC position (if you press the Engine Start/Stop button once more, it will change to the ON position).
This warning message is displayed when the smart key battery is discharged while changing the Engine Start/Stop button to the OFF position.
This warning message is displayed if the Engine Start/Stop button changes to the ACC position twice after repeated button presses without depressing the brake pedal.
You can start the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal.
This warning message is displayed if the Engine Start/Stop button changes to the ACC position twice after repeated button presses without depressing the clutch pedal.
You can start the engine by depressing the clutch pedal.
This warning message is displayed if the smart key is not inside the vehicle when you press the Engine Start/Stop button.
When attempting to start the Hyundai Accent, always keep the smart key with you.
This warning message is displayed if the smart key cannot be detected when you press the Engine Start/Stop button.
This message is displayed if the engine could not be started when the Engine Start/Stop button was pressed.
If this occurs, attempt to start the engine again by pressing the Engine Start/Stop button once more.
If the warning message appears every time you press the Engine Start/Stop button, have the Hyundai Accent inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
This warning message is displayed if you press the Engine Start/Stop button while the message "Key not detected" is shown.
At this time, the immobilizer indicator light blinks.

This warning is displayed to identify which door, the hood, or the trunk is open.
CAUTION
Before driving, confirm that the door/hood/trunk is fully closed and latched. Also verify that there is no door/hood/trunk open warning light or message displayed on the Hyundai Accent instrument cluster.

This warning message is displayed when tire pressure is low. The corresponding tire location on the vehicle graphic will illuminate.

This indicator displays which exterior light setting is selected using the lighting control.

This indicator displays the currently selected wiper speed using the wiper control.
This warning message is displayed when the washer fluid level in the reservoir is nearly empty.
Refill the washer fluid reservoir as soon as practical to maintain clear visibility.
This warning message is displayed when the fuel tank is nearly empty.
When this message appears, the low fuel level warning light in the cluster will also illuminate.
Locate the nearest fueling station and refuel the Hyundai Accent as soon as possible.
Add fuel as soon as possible.
This warning message is displayed when engine coolant temperature exceeds 248°F (120°C). This indicates the engine is overheated and may be damaged if operation continues.
This warning message is displayed if the headlights are not operating properly and a headlight bulb may need replacement.
Information
Replace any burned-out bulb with a new bulb of the same wattage rating to maintain proper lighting performance and to protect the electrical system.
This warning message is displayed if a malfunction is detected in the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system. Have the Hyundai Accent inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
