The vehicle's front and rear seats have adjustable head restraints. The head restraints provide comfort for passengers, but more importantly they are designed to help protect passengers from whiplash and other neck and spinal injuries during an accident, especially in a rear impact collision. Correct head restraint height and distance are an important part of overall Hyundai Accent occupant safety.
WARNING
To help reduce the risk of serious injury or death in an accident, take the following precautions when adjusting your head restraints:

NOTICE
To prevent damage, NEVER hit or pull on the head restraints.
CAUTION
When there is no occupant in the rear seats, adjust the height of the headrest to the lowest position. The rear seat headrest can reduce the visibility of the rear area. Lowering the head restraints can improve rearward visibility in your Hyundai Accent.
Correct head restraint adjustment is a key part of occupant protection in the Hyundai Accent. Set the head restraint for comfort, but also for safety, so it can help reduce the risk of whiplash and neck injury during a rear impact.

The vehicle's front and passenger's seats are equipped with adjustable head restraints for the passengers safety and comfort. In your Hyundai Accent, always adjust the head restraints before driving and confirm they lock securely into position.
Adjusting the height up and down

2. Lower the head restraint to the desired position (3). After adjustment, gently move it up and down to confirm it is locked.

1. Recline the seatback (2) rearward using the seatback angle lever (1). This creates the clearance needed to remove the Hyundai Accent head restraint safely.
2. Raise the head restraint as far as it can go.
3. Press the head restraint release button (3) while pulling the head restraint up (4). Keep a firm grip so it does not release suddenly.

To reinstall the head restraint:

2. Adjust the head restraint to the appropriate height for the occupant.
3. Adjust the seatback (4) forward using the seatback angle lever (3). Make sure the seatback and head restraint are both locked before driving the Hyundai Accent.
Rear head restraints help protect rear passengers and improve comfort in the Hyundai Accent. Whenever passengers ride in the back seat, ensure the head restraints are properly installed and adjusted for their seating position.

The rear seats are equipped with head restraints in all the seating positions for the passenger's safety and comfort. For best Hyundai Accent protection, position the head restraint close to the occupant’s head without pushing it forward uncomfortably.

Seat warmers are provided to warm the seats during cold weather. In the Hyundai Accent, treat seat warmers as a comfort feature and switch them off when you no longer need extra heat.
WARNING
The seat warmers can cause a SERIOUS BURN, even at low temperatures and especially if used for long periods of time.
Passengers must be able to feel if the seat is becoming too warm so they can turn it off, if needed.
People who cannot detect temperature change or pain to the skin should use extreme caution, especially the following types of passengers:
WARNING
NEVER place anything on the seat that insulates against heat when the seat warmer is in operation, such as a blanket or seat cushion. This may cause the seat warmer to overheat, causing a burn or damage to the seat.
NOTICE
To prevent damage to the seat warmers and seats:

While the engine is running, push either of the switches to warm the driver's seat or front passenger's seat. Select a setting that is comfortable, and remember the Hyundai Accent heating elements may feel warmer after several minutes of continuous operation.
During mild weather or under conditions where the operation of the seat warmer is not needed, keep the switches in the OFF position. This helps reduce unnecessary electrical load and prevents overheating.

Information
With the seat warmer switch in the ON position, the heating system in the seat turns off or on automatically depending on the seat temperature.
