Be sure to adjust mirror angles before driving your Hyundai Accent, and confirm you have a clear view to the rear and along both sides of the vehicle.
Your Hyundai Accent is equipped with both left-hand and right-hand side view mirrors. The mirrors can be adjusted remotely using the remote switch, depending on equipment. The mirror heads can also be folded to help prevent damage during an automatic car wash or when passing through a narrow street or tight parking space.
The right side view mirror is convex. Objects seen in the mirror are closer than they appear, so allow extra space when judging distance.
Use your interior rearview mirror and direct observation to determine the actual distance of following vehicles when changing lanes. For best visibility in the Hyundai Accent, set your mirrors to minimize blind spots while still keeping a reference to the vehicle’s side.
WARNING
Do not adjust or fold the side view mirrors while driving. This may cause loss of vehicle control resulting in an accident.
NOTICE

The Blind Spot Mirror (BSM) is a supplemental mirror that helps reduce the driver’s blind spot by showing the rear side area of the vehicle. In the Hyundai Accent, the blind spot mirror is equipped on the left-hand side view mirror to provide an additional reference point when merging or changing lanes.
WARNING
NOTICE
Do not clean the mirror with harsh abrasives, fuel, or other petroleum based cleaning products, as these can damage the mirror surface and housing.
Manual type

The side view mirrors may be equipped with a remote control for convenience. It is operated by the control lever in the bottom front corner of the window, allowing you to position the mirror without reaching outside.
Before driving away, always check that your mirrors are positioned so you can see behind you, both to the left and right sides, as well as directly behind your Hyundai Accent. When using the mirror, always exercise caution when attempting to judge the distance of vehicles behind or alongside you.
Electric type

1. Press either the L (driver’s side) or R (passenger’s side) button (1) to select the side view mirror you would like to adjust.
2. Use the mirror adjustment control switch (2) to position the selected mirror up, down, left, or right until your view is correct.
3. After adjustment, put the button into the neutral (center) position to prevent inadvertent adjustment while driving.
NOTICE
Manual type

To fold the side view mirrors, grasp the housing of the mirror and then fold it toward the rear of the vehicle. Folding mirrors can reduce the chance of damage in tight spaces or during washing.
