Hyundai Accent (HC): Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) System (Continuously Variable Transmission) / Troubleshooting

- Troubleshooting

Limp Home Mode

Limp Home Mode features a fail-safe function that prevents dangerous situations in the event of a transmission failure. The vehicle will be driven in limp home mode if the transmission malfunctions. In this mode, the transmission operates at a minimal functionality level (fixed shifting, limited shifting, reverse, neutral), making it possible for the vehicle to reach a service center.

• Fail safe function : Prevents dangerous situations from developing in the event of a malfunction

• Limp home function : Maintains minimal functionality (Drive, Reverse, and Neutral) in the event of a malfunction, making it possible for the vehicle to reach a service center.

- Components 1. Transmission control module (TCM) - Description The module receives and processes signals from various sensors and implements a wide range of transmission controls to ensure optimal driving conditions for the driver.Functions • Monitors the vehicle's operating conditions to determine the optimal gear setting. • Performs a gear change if the current gear setting differs from the identified optimal gear setting.
