Hyundai Accent (HC): Infotainment System / Before driving
Contents:
Before Entering the Vehicle
- Make sure all windows, outside mirror(s), and exterior lights on your Hyundai Accent are clean, clear, and unobstructed for maximum visibility.
- Remove any frost, snow, or ice from glass, lamps, mirrors, and sensors before you set off.
- Visually inspect the tires for uneven wear, cuts, punctures, or other damage, and confirm they appear properly inflated.
- Look under the vehicle for any sign of leaks (oil, coolant, fuel, or other fluids) so issues can be addressed early.
- If you intend to back up, confirm there are no obstacles, children, pets, or low objects behind the Hyundai Accent, and use mirrors/camera as equipped.
Before Starting
- Confirm the hood, trunk, and all doors are securely closed and locked before driving your Hyundai Accent.
- Adjust the seat position and steering wheel so you can reach all controls comfortably and maintain full pedal control.
- Set the inside and outside rearview mirrors to minimize blind spots and improve awareness.
- Verify that all exterior lights work properly (headlamps, brake lights, turn signals, and reverse lamps).
- Fasten your seat belt, then check that every passenger is properly belted whenever the Hyundai Accent is moving.
- With the ignition switch in the ON position, check gauges, warning lamps, and any messages on the instrument display to confirm the vehicle is ready.
- Make sure any items you are carrying are stored safely or fastened down securely so they cannot shift during braking or cornering.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH, take the following precautions:
- ALWAYS wear your seat belt. All passengers must be properly belted whenever the vehicle is moving. For more information, refer to "Seat Belts" in chapter 2.
- Always drive defensively. Assume other drivers or pedestrians may be careless and make mistakes, and be prepared to react safely.
- Stay focused on the task of driving. Driver distraction can cause accidents—keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.
- Leave plenty of space between you and the vehicle in front of you to allow for smooth braking and safer stopping distances.
WARNING
NEVER drink or take drugs and drive.
Drinking or taking drugs and driving is dangerous and may result in an accident and SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH.
Drunk driving is the number one contributor to the highway death toll each year. Even a small amount of alcohol will affect your reflexes, perceptions, and judgment. Just one drink can reduce your ability to respond to changing conditions and emergencies, and your reaction time gets worse with each additional drink.
Driving while under the influence of drugs is as dangerous or more dangerous than driving under the influence of alcohol.
You are much more likely to have a serious accident if you drink or take drugs and drive. If you are drinking or taking drugs, don't drive. Do not ride with a driver who has been drinking or taking drugs. Choose a designated driver or call a taxi.
Additional reminder: Plan ahead before you drive—set your route, pair your phone, and adjust climate/audio while parked so your Hyundai Accent can be driven with full attention on safety.
